Pick Up Medication for You
A Designated Other is a person you choose to pick up your methadone or buprenorphine medication when you cannot.
CompDrug must review and approve the person first.

Forms and Information
Authorization for Medication Pick-Up
This form tells us who you want to pick up your medication.
- You and your Designated Other must sign.
- Tell us why you need help with pickup.
- Provide current contact information.
- Complete a Release of Information so CompDrug may speak with your Designated Other about medication pickup.
Photo ID Requirement
Your Designated Other must show a valid government-issued photo ID when they pick up medication.
- The ID must not be expired.
- The name must match the approved person.
- CompDrug must have a copy of the ID on file.
- No valid ID means no medication pickup.
Requirements for Approval
CompDrug reviews each request. Approval is not automatic. We check that the person can safely pick up, carry, and deliver the medication.
Valid, unexpired government-issued ID is on file
The person has a working phone number and current address
The person can understand and follow pickup instructions
The person appears able to safely carry and deliver medication
All required forms, approvals, and ID copies are in the patient record
What Your Designated Other Must Do
- Never open or use the patient’s medication.
- Carry the medication in a lockable container approved by CompDrug.
- Keep the medication at room temperature during transport.
- Deliver the medication to the patient safely.
- Call CompDrug right away if there is a delay or other problem.
- Protect the medication from children, pets, theft, loss, and damage.
- Follow all instructions given by the CompDrug nurse.
